In 1946, Miles Cahn and his wife Lillian participated into this business entity. Miles and Lillian Cahn were operating the business of leather handbag, and they were skillful in the area of leatherworks and business.
In the early of 1950s, Cahn had taken over the whole business of the Gail Manufacturing Company and running it dominantly by himself. The main product lines are continued focus on the small leather goods, like wallets, but only small profits income in the 1960s. In 1957 the brand of wallets and other small leather goods was brought into the Coach products lines.
In 1961, Gail Leather Products, Inc. was registered. In the 1960s, Cahn made a further step on leather good developing and researching, and discovered a very complex method for processing leather to make it strong, soft, and durable. With the constructive suggestions from his wife, large quantities of release models of women’s handbags were much more affordable. In the early 1960s, the handbags product lines were added into the Coach Outlet series. Coach women's handbags were consist of sturdy cowhide, which was of much better quality than the materials was used on other brand leather suppliers which pasted thin leather over cardboard at the time. This catapulted Coach to squeeze into the high quality leather products.
Through the 1960s, Gail Leather Products also produced other brands, such as Red Lion and Westminster.
